Sony Introduces Sony Xperia Z4 Smartphone In Japan

Sony has officially announced its Xperia Z4 smartphone in Japan. The flagship handset retains the form factor of the Xperia Z3, but weighs in lighter at 144g and thinner at 6.9mm, and includes a metal band around the edges.

Powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of RAM, the Xperia Z4 features a 5.2-inch 1080p display with 424ppi.

It also comes with 32GB of on-board storage and retains the microSD slot, despite rumours that this feature was to be omitted.

The handset sports a 20.7-megapixel f/2.0 rear camera, backed up by Sony's Exmor RS and Bionz technology, and a 5.1-megapixel wide-angle snapper on the front.

Running off a 2,930mAh battery, the Xperia Z4 is waterproof to the IPX8 standard and IP6X-certified for dust-resistance.

The device runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, and will be available in White, Black, Copper and Aqua Green colour options at launch.

Sony has confirmed that the Xperia Z4 will launch in Japan this summer, but remains tight-lipped about its availability in other territories.
