The Samsung Galaxy S5’s launch date is currently unknown, but is likely to be sometime towards the end of April.
However, if rumours are to be believed, we shall be seeing the smartphone in less than two weeks. Samsung is widely expected to unveil the Galaxy S5 at Mobile World Congress later this month.
It is increasingly looking like when Samsung shows off the follow up to the Galaxy S4, we could see two models echoing Apple’s move with the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C.
According to the benchmarking website, Samsung is currently testing two models – the SM-G900R4 and the SM-G900H.
Based on specifications alone, the SM-G900R4 appears to be the high end device. It is said to come with a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and 3GB of RAM, adding further credence to earlier rumours that Samsung has dropped plans to put a 64-bit processor in the Galaxy S5.
Other specifications hinted at by the test include a 32GB of storage, 16-megapixel and two megapixel cameras and Android KitKat.
Interestingly, the phone’s resolution is said to be 1,440 pixels by 2,560 pixels. There’s still no indication on the physical size of the screen, but if that resolution is correct, the Galaxy S5 could come with one of the highest resolution screens on the market.
The second – SG–900H – will come with a 1.5GHz octa-core Exynos 5422 processor and Mali-T628 graphics. It also comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 16 megapixel and two megapixel cameras, Android KitKat and a 1080 x 1920 pixel display.
That puts it closer to the current specs of the Samsung Galaxy S4 than what we’d expect from the Galaxy S5.
