Thirty years ago today Alexy Pajitnov created the most popular game of all time, Tetris.
Pajitnov created Tetris in 1984 while working at the Soviet Academy of Sciences in Moscow. The game spent the next ten years appearing on almost every single gaming device.
It sold 33 million copies on the Nintendo Game Boy alone. That’s pretty staggering considering few games ever reach anywhere near that many copies sold even today.
Today, the game has sold over 100 million copies.
