Samsung May Buy Nuance, The Company That Made Apple's Siri

Nuance is apparently being courted by Samsung. It is best known for its Dragon Naturally Speaking dictation software.

However, it also provides technology and licences patents to a range of companies, including Apple.
It’s thought that Samsung is keen to develop voice recognition features within its phones, similar to those used in Siri. It’s just unclear at the moment what Samsung purchasing Nuance would mean for Siri.
Nuance is currently suffering a number of financial problems and has been highlighted as a company that is ripe for purchasing by experts.
Some have said it's unlikely that Samsung will be successful in bidding for the company, which is believed to be worth $6 billion.

The company is said to be worth significantly higher – however, poor results and growing debt have pushed the price of the company down.

According to financial experts, Samsung would likely face a challenge from private equity firms keen to turn the company around and then sell it on for a higher price.

It’s also likely that Apple wouldn't take such a threat from Samsung lightly. It too may join the battle for the company.
