Samsung And LG Plan To Reveal New Curved Ultra HD TV

Samsung and LG are both set to reveal new curved screen TVs with full 4K resolutions at CES in January.

Both the 105-inch TVs are billed as the "world's first" Ultra HD curved display by their respective manufacturers and each offers a whopping 5,120 x 2,160 pixel resolution.

Of course, both companies have offered up compelling, jargon-filled reasons why their particular TVs should be the obvious choice when the world's millionaires come knocking for a living room upgrade.

"The Samsung 105-incH Curved UHD TV adopts a new proprietary picture quality algorithm that delivers optimised colour and greater feeling of depth," said Samsung.

"LG Display overcame the challenge of uneven backlighting by refining its Thin Film Transistor (TFT) pixel circuit technology to prevent colour leakage and to ensure a superior viewing experience from virtually any angle," said LG.
This is the second round of a throwdown that began earlier this year with the the Samsung Curved OLED TV and the LG EA9800 appearing on the market.

With 3D largely forgotten as 2014 rolls around, many tech enthusiasts are shifting their focus to Ultra HD (or 4K) as the next big thing in display technology. And, despite a lack of content, these TVs are expected to be a big draw at CES next month.

As you'd expect, neither LG nor Samsung has revealed pricing release dates for their new curved boxes.
