This is basically everything the first Ninja movie from 2009 should have been. It's like many aspects were taken from that one and done in a much better, more bad-ass way for this sequel. I had to give it the extra half-star for the numerous fight scenes. It's always great to see awesome fight scenes done right. Without the obnoxious and choppy editing, where you can barely tell what's going on. It's almost a relief to see well-done fights in movies these days. Thankfully, this has some of the best I've seen since The Raid - which may seem like an absurd statement to some, but I honestly haven't seen many action films since then that have had as many cool fight scenes as this does - and quite frankly, Scott Adkins is fucking awesome. Can't wait to see more of the guy in the future.
Like The Raid, Ninja: Shadow of a Tear mostly focuses on the action more than any type of very elaborate plot. And knowing this beforehand, any fan of action/fighting/Adkins flicks should enjoy this a good amount.
